Here’s what you need to know about a speed zone cameras activated near some schools in Leon County – WCTV

Tallahasee, Florida (WCTV) – The speed cameras of school zones were activated on Monday near several schools in Leon County to ensure students and pedestrians’ safety.

The cameras are located near the RAA secondary school and the Desoto Trail elementary school. The speed cameras are only two of the more expected to be activated near 20 schools in the capital, according to the city of Talahasi.

Once the camera has been activated, residents will receive a mail warning for the first 30 days, informing them of the new speed cameras.

The camera implementation system will work “within 30 minutes 30 minutes ago after the start of a regularly planned breakfast program, during the overall regular planned school session and within 30 minutes 30 minutes ago after the end of a regularly planned school session” , according to the city.

For anyone who traveled more than 10 miles above the school’s speed limit, the camera will take a photo of their label and send them a $ 100 quote, which will need to be paid within 30 days.

If the registered owner was not the person who drives the vehicle, the owner would have to file a complaint in writing and identify the person responsible.

The speed cameras became possible by the House Bill 657, signed by governor Ron Ron Ron in May 2023.
