Drivers in and around County Durham will have 17 national highway closures to watch out for in the coming weeks.
And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.
The latest list of expected works, with notes from National Highways, shows seven closures already in place are expected to continue this week:
• A19, from 8pm on 13 September to 6am on 26 October, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound, B1320 Peterlee to A1086 Easington Interchange, lane closure for electrical works.
• A1(M), from 8pm on 7 October to 6am on 6 November, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1M northbound and southbound, Lumley Thicks, lane closures for survey work.
• A1(M), from 6am 3 October to 6am 16 November, minor delays (under 10 minutes): A1M northbound, junction 60 to junction 61, lane closure for vehicle safety fence work.
• A66, from 8pm on 20 October to 6am on 23 November, light delays (under 10 minutes): A66 westbound, Old Spittal to Cumbrian Border, speed limit lane closure to resume weather station.
• A19, 8pm 22 July to 6am 21 December, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, A182 Easington to B1320 Peterlee Interchange, temporary speed limit of 50 mph.
• A19, from 20:00 on 18 September 2023 to 17:30 on 25 February 2025, minor delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, A182 Cold Hesledon Interchange, road closures sails and sails for maintenance activities.
• A1(M), from 20:00 on 3 October 2024 to 18:00 on 3 October 2025, minor delays (under 10 minutes): A1M southbound, junction 64 Junction, closure of the safety fence work lane.
And six more closures will begin in the next two weeks:
• A66, from 8am on 24 October to 4.30pm on 28 October, light delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Hulands Quarry to Cross Lanes, lane closures for maintenance work.
• A1(M), from 20:00 on 24 October to 06:00 on 25 October, light delays (under 10 minutes): A1M northbound and southbound, junction 62 to junction 63, lane closures for engineering works .
• A1(M), 8am to 4.30pm on 29 October, minor delays (under 10 minutes): A1M northbound, junction 58 to junction 59, mobile lane closure for maintenance work.
• A19, from 8pm on 31 October to 6am on 6 November, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound, A179 Sheraton to A181 Wellfield Interchange, lane closures for roadworks.

• A66, 8pm November 1 to 6am November 2, minor delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Side Street Farm, broadband installation road signals.
• A66, 7pm November 4 to 6am November 14, light delays (under 10 minutes): A66 eastbound and westbound, Bowes to Rokeby Park, diversion route and network work signs outside Los Angeles.
National Highways are responsible for the maintenance of motorways and main A roads, so the closure of smaller roads will not be included in their timetable.
