Moline, Ill. (KWQC) – The Moline School Board is moving forward with a school renovation plan.

With the aging of Willard’s elementary school for more than 125 years, he recently presented major challenges.

Therefore, the Education Council has officially approved a plan to close Willard and expand Lincoln-Irving. The project is expected to cost about $ 28 million.

“We have held meetings, we have visited sites of other facilities around Illinois to develop a truly conceptual design for this extension, which will be the best for our students and our teachers,” said Dr. Brian Probyl, Deputy Chief.

Construction will begin in 2026 and during this time the students and employees of Lincoln-Rield will be temporarily moved to Coolidge.

The school is expected to be opened by 2027.
