LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – The Alzheimer’s Association held its annual Caregiver Conference on Thursday, October 25, welcoming caregivers and healthcare professionals to learn about support and resources. Attendees heard from experts who shared useful information about caring for people with dementia.
Gregory Scuto, vice president of the Alzheimer’s Association, emphasized the importance of caregivers taking time for themselves. “We have presentations on the impact of hearing and dementia and a speaker from a hospice discussing physical and occupational therapy,” he said. “For carers and those in healthcare, having this knowledge base can give them an advantage when dealing with someone who has dementia. It can even help them recognize the signs and symptoms before a diagnosis is made.
Experts from various parts of the country, including Arizona, spoke at the conference. The event aimed to give carers tools and advice to improve care for people living with dementia.
