The North Las Vegas Airport creates a master plan, plans to change the slopes after a deadly crash 2022 – FOX 5 Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – A major overhaul at the North Las Vegas airport is about to start. This happened after a deadly crash between two aircraft in 2022 and the search for more aviation options in South Nevada with major events such as Superbowl and F1.

On July 17, 2022, two single -engine aircraft collided over the airport. Two people were aboard each plane, and the four were killed.

Then, in November 2022, the one-movement shock hit a hanging helicopter after landing.

FAA sent pilots who use the airport in a letter and held a meeting expressing safety concerns, especially with the slopes.

In May 2023, the North Las Vegas Airport began strategizing changes and modernization. This master plan is now in the final stages of approval. The airport is currently located with two parallel runs and a cross runway. In the future, the longer and width primary track can replace the current parting between the runways.

“I have learned hundreds of people to fly, and North Las Vegas is the most dangerous airport I have operated from,” Will Bradley, an active flight instructor and a retired colonel and army safety specialist flying out and out of North Las Vegas He told Fox5. Bradley says the changes can’t come soon enough.

“As an instructor, my time is divided between teaching a student, giving them good quality and looking at these other dangers. So, I moved my students to Henderson Airport, which, in my opinion, is a much more fed environment, “Bradley says.

NTSB has just released its final report earlier this month for this deadly crash in the summer of 2022. The report says that the pilot error (an airplane is arranged for landing on the wrong track), controller errors and staff shortages The controller contributed to the factors of the accident.

The Fox5 reached for the airport on Monday afternoon to find out when the Master Plan was expected to be approved by FAA and when construction was created to begin. We will let you know when we hear back.
