South Carolina reports 49 deaths associated with a storm nearly two weeks after Helen struck the state – AOL

Columbia, SC (WCBD) – Almost 50 people were killed in South Carolina as a result of hurricane Helen and its impact on the state. This number can still be increased.

Heather Beans of the Ministry of Public Safety in South Carolina said there were 49 confirmed deaths related to the storm. Most of them were in Aiken County, where 11 deaths were reported.

The storm began to throw South Carolina as a hurricane after making the land in the Big Band region of Flord on the night of September 26th. He moved north to Georgia and brought very strong winds, rain and tornado to Palmeto as a tropical storm.

Many deaths have been reported in the consequences of the storm, including 11 in Aiken, nine in Spartanburg, seven in Greenville and five in Anderson and Newbury.
