Mr. Bascome-Mery said, “First, Scott Pirman, absent MP, releases a statement filled with fashion words and catchy phrases, but there is no real substance or truth. The same can be said of the statement of G -n Ben Ben Smith, which I note that he has not done anything so far to support the families of the Gilbert Institute and instead use them as political football in a place that OBA cannot afford to lose. People deserve better than that.

“In order to make things more interesting, Zora Simmons President of PLP decided she was needed by her. At no point in her statement, the President of the PLP does not mention parents, children or teachers at the Gilbert Institute. Excuse my direct tone, but where was it? C22 is not interested in remotely at being represented by PLP and to be honest, I’m sure the feeling is mutual. I am sure that the parents of the Gilbert Institute have not invited the PLP to the rally, hence their absence from the event.

“Then, in order to make the day more interesting, the unsuccessful minister of education decided to send in a statement. A hollow and pointless statement. So far, four different MPs from two different parties have thrown this back and forward, without any actual plan to provide transitional support for the families who leave the school or without acting actual intercession for the school. This is what party policy deals with.

“You have an OBA, who for years knew this school was closing and did nothing to represent the C22 and PLP people who create a debt, failure economy and further destroy the education system, arguing with each other while people suffer. This is about party politics, empty promises without true determination from people who are more interested in holding power than to represent people.
