Tesla offers a 10% insurance discount if you drive more using your “complete self -driving system” – Electrek.co

Tesla begins to offer insurance discounts for people who are driving more using their “controlled full stand -alone” package of sophisticated driver support features.

For years, Tesla claims that his “full self-driving” (FSD) set of sophisticated driver support features is “safer than driving a person.”

The company has been confronted with many discounts on this front – mainly due to the lack of data in support of the claim.

The only data that Tesla shares is through its three -month “Safety Report”, which is heavily criticized for misrepresentation by weighing too much highway to drive in the city and to compare the Tesla fleet with a much older one more Wide car fleet in the United States.

In addition, despite the name “complete self -government”, the system does not self -manage and requires a constant “supervision” of the driver. This means that when Tesla claims that “FSD is more favored than human driving,” actually claims that the human driver with FSD is more expensive than a simple human driver, which is obviously a big difference and again, there is no evidence to They prove it.

But Tesla now at least puts a little money on the claim.

Tesla’s own insurance product, which is available in several states in the United States, is starting to offer a small discount if you use FSD. The company wrote:

Tesla Insurance offers a discount to Tesla owners who have purchased or subscribed for full self -driving (controlled). The more you drive with FSD (controlled) activated, the greater the discount of your insurance premium.

Currently, the offer is only available in Arizona and Texas.

Tesla says that if you are driving more than 50% of the time with FSD, you can expect up to 10% discount:

The more you drive with FSD (controlled) activated, the greater the discount for your insurance premium for certain Tesla insurance policy. You can earn up to 10% discount on these coatings when you drive 50% or more than miles with FSD (supervision) activated.

However, Tesla also says that if you have “exhaustive, UMBI or UMPD for your policy,” you may not reach 10%, even if you are driving more than 50% with FSD.

Electric takes

If Tesla was really confident in his FSD, he would offer a much more discount, but the truth is that she is not confident and should not be based on the most recent data.

Ashok, Tesla’s FSD leader, claims only last week that the safety report has shown that Tesla with FSD is “8.5 times more fascinating” than driving people without autopilot technology.

This is a ridiculous statement and if it was really the case, the discount should be much more than maybe 10%.
