Denise Tapia, Fremont, CA – The Fremont community mourns the loss of Denise Tapia, who passed away on October 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. After months of hospitalization and specialized treatment, Denise’s cancer spread to bone and brain. Despite her enduring strength and hope, a round of chemotherapy worsened her condition, and her family now mourns the loss of a woman they describe as funny, caring and deeply devoted to her loved ones.
Denise’s daughter, Monique Tapia, organized a fundraiser to fulfill her mother’s last wish: to be laid to rest at Irvington Memorial Cemetery next to her mother, a place Denise loved. Monique shared that the family faces financial challenges in arranging a proper funeral and reached out to the community for support. “We miss her and love her deeply,” expressed Monique, describing her mother’s impact and the love she gave so generously to her family and friends.
Messages of sympathy and fond memories poured in from friends and family on social media. Tudi Emerson shared: “My sincere condolences to you and the family, prayers for healing and strength.” Another friend, Babalwa Chikizua Yenana-Mongezi, posted: “Oh no. My condolences. What a beautiful soul. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.” Bobby Fisher, a longtime Facebook friend, wrote: “I’m in shock. My sincere condolences to her family. God bless you all and may God rest her soul.’
The community has come together with heartfelt donations, with recent donations including $200 from Leonardo Tapia and Faviola Tapia, as well as additional support from Tara Nunez, Babalwa Ntsokolo and Jamila Gonzalez.
Denise’s memory lives on through the love she shared and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her. Her family and friends continue to hold her in their hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Dennis Tapia at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
