The Dallas Mavericks have a lot of talent.
It wasn’t much of a surprise to see Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic make it to the NBA Finals after surrounding them with a solid supporting cast.
Ultimately, they fell short against the Boston Celtics, with Irving leaving much to be desired.
However, former NBA player Chandler Parsons still holds them in high regard.
He even went so far as to call them the greatest backcourt in NBA history (via Run It Back & NBA Central).
“Luca and Kyrie are arguably the greatest backcourt duo in basketball history.”

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it seems like this is just a huge reach.
Even if we’re talking from a talent standpoint, you can’t have the greatest backcourt of all time and not have the rings to show for it.
If that were the case, even James Harden and Chris Paul could make a case for being just as good, if not better.
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson won four rings together and changed basketball.
Doncic and Irving are incredibly talented, but it’s all about getting results, and they didn’t even make the playoffs in their first season together.
It will be interesting to see how they manage to bounce back from a tough loss in the NBA Finals.
But at least for now, they just can’t sit at the same table as other legendary backcourts.
