South Maryland Dancer wins second place in the Washington Dance Competition – Bay Net

Adelphi, MD. – Mahi Chess, representing South Maryland, second in the adult solo category (aged 15+) in Dance Washington Dance 2.0, a competition presented by the Grand Indian Idol team.

The event took place on October 27, 2024 at the Hindu Temple of Sofia Washington in Adelphi, where performers from all over Washington, Colombia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) competed. The performance of chess, a four -minute dance routine, won her the position of the runner -up among the elderly soloists.

“Participation in a dance competition is more than a scene – it’s a journey of passion and determination to make the best you can,” Shah said. “Every step, every rhythm and every moment is a victory on its own and I could not be more thankful that I had the opportunity to participate in Dance Washington 2.0!”

The competition gathered talented dancers who show different styles and techniques. The achievement of chess emphasizes her dedication to the art of dance and the growing presence of South Maryland performers in the regional dance community.
