It took three years, but two Durham heroes have received the recognition and honor they thoroughly deserve for saving a man’s life in medical emergency.
Yesterday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Road Safety Unit said two members of the community received the Commissioner’s Life Saving Award.
Inspector Jennifer Niemtz of the Toronto Whitby OPP presented the Commissioner’s Award for saving the lives of Aditya and Keith.
In July 2021, Aditya rescued a man struggling to swim at Sauble Beach. The man was in serious condition, the OPP said.
It says that in October 2021, Keith, as an off-duty paramedic, was driving on Interstate 115 in Clarington when he noticed a man in serious medical condition. Keith stopped and treated the person.
“Thank you, Aditya and Keith, for your incredible life-saving efforts that have had such a positive impact on our community; your dedication and compassion really do matter,” the OPP said.
