BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Baton Rouge.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, 18-year-old Anthony Torreganohayes was arrested on Oct. 24 for his role in the slaying of 44-year-old Johnny Ray Green.
The shooting happened Sept. 14 in the 3400 block of Brady Street, near the North Acadian Thruway.
When police arrived, Green was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation, police learned that Green had just returned home when an unknown man, later identified as Torreganohayes, shot him multiple times.
Detectives believe Torreganohayes was hired to shoot Green. An arrest report alleges Torreganohayes was seen leaving the scene on a bicycle with a shotgun and was paid $2,000 for the murder.
Toreganohayes was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
While investigating, detectives learned Toreganohayes had been arrested by BRPD on Oct. 1 for a previous incident. A Crime Stoppers tip helped lead to the arrest.
