Buy or Bin?: 5 things I like and 3 things I don’t like about Oppo Reno 13 Pro – Soyacincau.com

Earlier this year, Oppo Malaysia launches its most recent Premium Midrange Smartphone Composition, the Reno 13 Series. Sitting at the top of the range is Oppo Reno 13 Pro 5G, which is sold at retail at RM2,999Giving you a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor, 6.83-inch HD+ AMOLED display, along with 512GB storage. These are decent specifications that you can request from a phone below RM3,000.

However, with a firm competition from the likes of the Xiaomi 14T Pro, the Honor 200 Pro and the Vivo V40 Pro, do you have to buy Reno 13 Pro, or install it to get your competitors instead? Here are 5 things I like and 3 things I don’t like after using it as my daily driver for a few weeks.

Such as: Coloros 15 is smooth with useful features of AI Photography

Yes, I can’t believe I say this, since in the past I wasn’t a fan of Oppo’s Coloros, which was very similar to an imitation of Apple’s iOS. However, with more recent versions of Coloros like Coloros 15, Oppo seems to have smoothed things not only in design but also in smoothness.

Even without looking at the Oppo marketing terms uses to describe its latest version of Coloros, I can still say that this is one of the most glare user interface I have experienced in the Android space, ranked just below Google’s Pixel user interface and a Samsung user interface.

Coloros 15 also looks quite clean in general, with designs that make sense and easy to understand. I also like the details, such as how I can access the nuance of the notice and the quick settings, including the brightness of the screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the volume, all with just one spending. This is something that may look insignificant, but not all OEM manufacturers can offer, including Google, the company behind the Android platform itself.

The cherry on the cake for Coloros 15 should be its customization. As a fan of past HTC and Google Nexus devices, I really appreciate how I can customize the application icons on the home screen and the app drawer, which makes them look like those on devices like Nexus 6P and HTC One M8.

Also impressive with Coloros 15 is its AI photographic characteristics such as improving clarity, which helps to fix low separation or pixel images to make them more “HD”. Remove the reflections, on the other hand, it does exactly as its name suggests, remove the reflections, quite effectively caused by things like glass windows. UNBRUR HELPES to restore parts of images that are, well, blurred, while AI Eraser helps to remove certain elements from the image.

Such as: IP69 powder and water resistance

Although it is made of first -class materials such as glass and metal, I am glad that it is also able to take immersion thanks to being appreciated for IP66/68/69. These numbers mainly mean that the phone is dust and can survive under water to a depth of 2 meters and 30 minutes. In addition, the device is also protected from high pressure and temperature water jets. However, keep in mind that these estimates are applied only to clean water.

To take advantage of this, Oppo also includes Reno 13 Pro with an underwater mode in its camera application. When activated, this feature locks the touch screen, allowing you to take pictures under the surface by using the sound buttons and preventing the Phantom Touch water.

Such as: a firm battery life combined with ultra fast charging

Your phone may have a great display, chipset, camera and software, but what is the point if its battery life is right? Well, I’m happy to announce that Oppo Reno 13 Pro is distinguished in the battery compartment with its huge 5,800mAh cage.

With my use, this made it possible to deliver the Reno 13 Pro easy to deliver over 7 hours screen on time after a full day of use and by that I mean over 24 hours. This includes a full day to edit documents, surfing the web, scrolling social media, watching YouTube, as well as some random games for games here and there.

Keep in mind that I also had features such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Data and GPS included throughout the day. I even used the phone as a mobile hot spot when I work on the go. Charging the Oppo Reno 13 Pro also didn’t take that long thanks to the 80W Supervooc loading technology of the brand.

Such as: Flagman level border cameras

You may think that the subtitle above is a negative criticism. But no, this is actually a compliment. On the Oppo Reno 13 Pro paper comes with a triple setting of the camera on the back, consisting of 50MP f/1.8 main shooter with OIS, 50MP F/2.8 phoons camera and 8MP f/2.2 UltraWide Snapper.

In short, for the price, I was quite pleased with the cameras of Reno 13 Pro, especially its main and telephoto sensors, in most conditions of lighting. Speaking of the camera, when you click something extremely far from your maximum 120x digital increase, Oppo will initiate its AI AI Phone Zoom, making the pictures look sharp as if they were taken using a actual digital camera. Quite impressive things here.

The wide -angle camera, although lacking in resolution, can explode decent looking images, again thanks to Oppo’s software wisdom.

Such as: good old infrared (IR) Blaster

Here is a bonus feature that I like about the Oppo Reno 13 Pro, which is a highly undervalued feature that is often overlooked by many smartphone users – IR Blaster. As rare as it may be at this day and age, this feature is usually found in more accessible smartphones and I really appreciate smartphone companies that travel the extra mile to include this with their products. It may not be an avant-garde function, but its existence makes my life at home the easier.

I can just use it to control home appliances such as TV, fan, air conditioning, etc. It is supposed that technology will make our lives easier right? And this is a good example. Nice one musculoskeletal.

Don’t like it: Bloatware tones on the phone 2.999 RM, really?

Now, to things I don’t like about Oppo Reno 13 Pro. I will start getting the most large buffalo on the road first, which is Bloatware. I was truly surprised to see so much software on this smartphone that costs the RM2 999, which is anything but cheap.

If manufacturers need to put this amount of Bloatware on a smartphone below RM1,000 to compensate for their low retail spending, well. But when you pay so much for something like Reno 13 Pro, it starts to get a little ridiculous.

To make things worse, the bigger part of Oppo Reno 13 Pro Bloetware consists of unclear game applications. This is somewhat ironic, as Oppo once explained to the Malaysian technology media that these pre -installed applications are intended to be useful and convenient for users who are not technological who may not know how or where to install applications on third Countries. But when are games considered “essential” applications?

To be fair, there are some applications among Bloetware that you can use such as Agoda, Booking.com, IQiyi, LinkedIn, Netflix, Shopee, Tiktok and WPS Office. The problem is that over 50% of the pre -installed applications are doubtful game titles, which are obviously there just because their creators have paid to Oppo. It really started to go back under my skin.

One of the folders of dummy applications

It is fun that Oppo Reno 13 Pro also comes out of the box with some “fictitious application folders” that, you have guessed, are not actual application folders. More recently, they direct you to a page full of offered applications, Oppo wants you to install from its App Store. Come on Oppo, there should be better and more civilized ways to advertise your app store, right?

Dislike: for its price MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SOC is neither here nor there

Don’t get me wrong, 4nm based on MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset in Oppo Reno 13 Pro is not a bad chipset in any way. But compared to competitors such as the Vivo V40 Pro and the Honor 200 Pro, they either offer a more affordable price with similar performance or with a similar price for more murmuring under the hood.

There are also devices such as the Xiaomi 14T Pro, which provide both a lower price point and a more powerful chipset. This puts Reno 13 Pro in neither here nor has any position.

Dislike: Show is not bright enough under Malaysian sunlight

According to Oppo’s official specification sheet, the Reno 13 Pro 6.83-inch AMOLED display has a peak brightness of 1200 nits with high brightness mode (HBM). And if that doesn’t sound bright enough to you, I’ll have to join and agree with you there.

When I use Reno 13 Pro under the bright Malaysian sunlight, especially in the afternoon, sometimes I struggle to see what is on the screen and I am forced to hide under the shade to find out what I look at.

Relatively, the Xiaomi 14T Pro supplies 1600 nits with HBM. As for the Vivo V40 Pro and Honor 200 Pro, it is said that they can kill a maximum brightness of 1 307 nits and 1110 nits in auto mode, according to the tests conducted by other retail outlets.

Given all things, Oppo Reno 13 Pro is not the worst performing smartphone in terms of screen brightness. In addition, it is not as terrible as something like the iPS LCD panel of the iPhone SE 3, which is almost completely unusable outdoors during the day. However, the bright screen is essential in hot countries like Malaysia, and we hope that the Reno 13 Pro panel is just a little more bright.

Sentence: Premium mid -range smartphone that is very leading

Honestly, I was not blown up by Oppo Reno 13 Pro when I first saw him, especially when it comes to his design. However, after using it for a while, I started to warm up and realize that intrusive designs are not for everyone. In fact, honest and clean designs like Reno 13 Pro are most likely those who can better withstand the time test.

It is clear that Oppo wants to create a Reno 13 Pro as a “mini flagship”, delivering premium designs and some premium price features that will not require you to sell your kidney. Oppo Reno 13 Pro is just that. The market, however, became more intensity than ever, which made it difficult for phones like this to stand out without offering great features of attractive price points.

So, for me, Oppo Reno 13 Pro is a purchase, as it offers decent construction and the highest underwater water resistance to take advantage of it, smooth software, along with an impressive camera setting. Including IR Blaster is also a sweet addition. However, it is quite difficult for me to ignore my competitors like the Xiaomi 14T Pro, which it offers, at least on paper, better characteristics, with a lower price. The long list of Bloatware on Reno 13 Pro also put a bitter taste in my mouth.

However, if you are willing to look at the Bloetware problem and are ready to pay the extra price for your (the bigger part) superb software or just prefer to own Oppo’s phone rather than Xiaomi, Oppo Reno 13 Pro is a jack of a jack Deal type of phone that you will not be disappointed with.
