Birmingham Open 25 returns to shine light on newly emerging artists – Colmore Business District

Following the success of the introductory Birmingham of 2024, he created: Open, Colmore Business District, in partnership with Central Bide, a competition for open calls for emerging visual artists in the city is launched again.

Birmingham Open 25 is an open conversation and competition for all forms of printing artwork. It aims to give a platform to talented, emerging artists who produce exceptional work.

Open Call’s theme is this year LightIn order to coincide with the first festival of light in Birmingham, which takes place since February 19-22, an annual event, the festival will revive the city center at night through a gallery of illuminated works of art.

The judges are looking for imaginary answers that capture light as you see it. Artists may want to document the festival specifically or to frame light in countless other ways.

It is not necessary for the works of art to be produced specifically for the exhibition and it is completely optional for artists to draw from their existing portfolio or to create a new work. However, the panel encourages artists to use this open conversation as an opportunity to experiment and show their skills in response to the specific topic of light.

Inspections for Birmingham Open 25 are open until midnight on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The Birmingham Open 25 Judicial Panel is a diverse and dynamic group, reflecting a combination of ages, demographics, art styles and professional origin. It includes experienced artists, emerging artists, curators and art teachers, providing a broad prospect of recordings. In particular, last year’s winner in the competition, a multidisciplinary artist, known for his innovative approach to mixing traditional and modern techniques, joins the panel to bring his unique look as a former participant.

The Open Call will end with a physical exhibition of a group group at the Birmingham Center (Snow Hill Square, Victoria Square) in the summer of 2025. The common winner will receive a 2000 pound cash prize plus a portfolio review. The winners of “High Praise” and “People’s Choice” will receive a £ 1000 portfolio.
