The game between the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs marked a new era for Klay Thompson. It was the first time fans saw the point guard team for an NBA team other than the Golden State Warriors. Klay’s electric 22 points and six 3-pointers were the most by any Mavericks player in their first appearance for the club.
Klay Thompson won the NBA four times with the Golden State Warriors in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. His average of 17.9 points per game last season was Klay’s lowest since the 2012-13 season. Given his recent showcase for the Dallas Mavericks, he seems to have found the fresh start he was looking for with the Mavericks.
