The hot topic of the data centers will be discussed again on this Wednesday (February 5) meeting of the Renault Planning Commission:

It’s Reno View this item in Planning Commission to consider asking the City Council for a moratorium on data centers (S)It’s Reno1/30/2025). You can read the full letter of Becerra and the formulation of the proposed resolution hereS If adopted by the Planning Commission, the resolution will head to the Renault Municipal Council.

The proposal is hot on the heels of the recent permission of the Municipal Council for Data Center to continue in the northern valleys, as reported excellent details (with many direct quotations of the Council) by Kelsey Penrose in The City Council denies the appeal of the North Valley Data Center after numerous messy meetings (S)It’s Reno1/28/25).

Like urban News Summary:

“In 2023, the Renault Municipal Council initiated a change in the text of the Renault Municipal Code to allow ADUS in most areas of the city. In 2024, the city’s employees conducted extensive public information related to ADUS, including a survey and numerous public meetings and went to the Renault Municipal Council for more direction. Based on this feedback, employees have developed a project ordinance and are now looking for an additional contribution to the improvement of the proposed language. “

Those who have registered as stakeholders regarding potential changes to the provisions of the Reno City Zoning Code, received a word this week at three upcoming meetings of the virtual community on the subject.

I last wrote about this issue on my 14 October 2024. Shortwhich you can read hereS The proposed amendments have been prepared on the basis of feedback obtained in previous “meeting to engage in stakeholders”. No local press has raised it yet, but I learned late last week Renault’s request to abandon the Stevenson Street is withdrawn by the candidateAs you can see on the Accela webpage hereS

As I discussed On my January 6, 2025 ShortThe consideration of this request was scheduled for the meeting on January 8, but continued until February 12. Not anymore.

The request (ABN24-00003) was sent (and withdrawn) by the owners of the two properties on the east side of Stevenson Street. But a partnership with them under the proposed agreement was Stephen Crmer of Kromer Investments, the owner of a free parcel on the west side of the street (the former site of the Greyhound bus terminal).

You can read more about Kromer in Sponsored Publication from Reno Reno Partnership Center Published by It’s Reno In 2023, he was also in the late news, thanks to a large extent to some reporting reports by Joe Hart on News 4 Reno:

With this request for abandonment suddenly withdrawn, it was out of time to start the city of Renault to begin Holding Jacobs Entertainment Responsible For their promise to provide enough public parking spaces to compensate for those who took away to build their residential building at the corner of Western 2 street and Avenue Arlington. You can turn to My September 9, 2024 Short For more information about this, including direct links to the unfulfilled public bet on Jacobs, Rep Gareth Gordon.
