A pedestrian, who was hit by a vehicle earlier this week, died as a result of his injuries.

On Monday, around 6:20, employees responded to a clash between a pedestrian and a pickup on the 4300 Carolina Beach Road near Orchid Road. The pedestrian was transported to the Regional Medical Center Novant Health New Hanover with critical injuries after the incident.

Investigations have revealed that the pedestrian, identified as Jeremy McCummer, 35 from Wilmington, crosses the lane in an area not designated as a pedestrian crossing, according to a message from Police in Wilmington.

The driver of the vehicle is not facing a taxi.
