Baton Rouge – a Baton Rouge comedian uses comedy to cure himself and the community.

After fighting addiction and depression, Comedian Brandon Brufet tried to take his life in the New Year, 2024. He was rescued by health workers.

“Then everything changed,” Bruffi said.

After experiencing the dark moment, Brufet’s story is not over. He has found healing in comedy and now helps others overcome their mental health battles for a joke at some point.

“It’s definitely the old cliché that laughter is the best medicine, but when we can laugh at the things that hurt us so much that it means that we have conquered it,” Bruffi said.

He said that most of his jokes hit uncomfortable topics, shifting prospects and facing difficult situations.

Bruffy said he could change a lot in a year. After booking numerous shows, he said he was focused on raising the comedy scene in Baton Rouge, hosting Open Mic Nights and helping others pursue their passion for comedy.

“We are really trying to turn Batton Rouge’s comedy for 2025. So for someone who didn’t want to see 2024, I’m really excited to see 2025. I’m so glad I was here because I almost missed it said Bruffy.
