The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says a Reno man has been found guilty of multiple charges involving domestic violence after a two-day trial.
Ernesto Guzman-Carapia, 37, of Lemmon Valley, was convicted of domestic violence assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into a home and obstructing 911.
Guzman-Carapia was originally arrested in June 2024 after his ex-wife called 911 to report being assaulted by him.
The district attorney’s office says she went to Guzman-Carapia’s home to talk and when she tried to leave, he pointed a shotgun at her and fired near where she was standing.
Eventually, she was able to leave the home and went to a nearby store and called the police.
Guzman-Carapia is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18, 2024 before the Honorable Judge Lynn Jones.
