LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Thursday’s hot afternoon continues with record temperatures.
By 4 p.m., the high was 92°, breaking the previous record of 91° set in 1933.
It will remain fresh this afternoon. Increased fire danger is expected for areas east of I-27 until 7 p.m
A cooler forecast for the end of the week
A cold front will move into the northern part of the evening around midnight. The front is expected to clear our observation area by sunrise.
A strong northerly wind is expected on Friday morning. This cooler air mass and strong northerly winds will help temperatures drop closer to seasonal averages in the 70s for the entire area.
Friday morning and afternoon will remain windy, but winds are expected to ease throughout the evening.
