Virginia Tech Basketball: Hokies Escape Charlottesville with a 75-74 win over Virginia – Gobbler Country

Like their victory over Florida Seminols earlier this week, Virginia Tech Hokies controls the Saturday game against Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottsville. And, like Wednesday’s victory in Talahasi, Hokies withstand a late jump to hold Hoos to win 75-74.

Virginia jumped at Hocky earlier, marking the first points of the game and led 6-3 after the security guard Isaac McKneli sank 3-indicated three minutes in the game. Technology guard Jaden Shut answered with his own to tie things to 6-6. The teams would return back and forth in the next few minutes as Virginia took control of the game and entered halftime, holding a lead 38-31.

VT came out of the break strong, controlling the game throughout the half. Whenever it seems like UVA is about to go running, Hokies answered. Both teams fired the ball well, with the technology shooting 52% of the terrain, including a burning 11 out of 21 of the 3-point line. The cavaliers fired 48% of the pitch, but made 56% of their shots in the last 20 minutes.

The game appeared at the 6:30 brand, when a joke broke Trey to pull Hoki forward 69-56. But it was far from over. Virginia Tech will have to win this game from the free throw line, which in normal circumstances will not be a problem for Mike Young’s team.

The hockey exhaled and celebrated their second consecutive road victory, improving to 10-12 and 5-6 in the ACC Play. Cavaliers fall to 10-12 and 3-8 in conference games.

Shut led Hokis with 18 points, while Loal Chipira in 17. Hockey spin the ball only seven times, with Hammond playing 29 minutes as a starting point.

This continues to be the best coaching work of Young so far. Hokies improve every game and if you have watched this team in the first month and you think they will be close to .500 in ACC game, you are probably in the minority.

Hockey returns to Blexburg, where on Wednesday night they will host Smu Mustangs (17-5, 8-3).
