The Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that 19-year-old Kyler Renner has been sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in three separate cases.

It was part of a plea deal as prosecutors said he pleaded guilty to soliciting to commit drug possession for the purpose of sale and possession of drug paraphernalia, both felonies and a misdemeanor charge. felony aggravated assault.

In December 2022, Renner was part of a group of teenagers and youths who attacked someone in a parking garage on Vaughn Avenue in downtown Gilbert, near Gilbert and Guadalupe roads.

One of the suspects had brass knuckles, but it’s unclear if they hit the victim.

The case was shelved until December 2023, after the murder of 16-year-old Preston Lord, when a series of cases of violence against teenagers in the East Valley by a group known as the “Gilbert Goons” went viral.

Renner and another suspect, Gage Garrison, were arrested for their involvement. However, Renner is not one of the seven teenagers charged in Lord’s death.

Police reports say he admitted to using drugs, taking about 30 fentanyl pills a day.

In January 2024, after his arrest, police searched his home in Gilbert and found drug paraphernalia.

Renner was indicted in February.
