NTSB to update a collision investigation with a helicopter -Jet, Murder 67 – Yahoo News Canada

February 1 (Upi) – Employees of the National Transport Safety Council will provide an update on Saturday night on investigating the deadly clash in the middle of this week between the US Airlines regional aircraft and a military helicopter.

The Saturday briefing will be held at the historic lobby at Terminal 1 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport at 18:00 EST, NTSB confirmed to X.

On Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration urged people not to fly drones for recreation around the site of the crash.

“Drones pilots: Washington, DC remains a strict zone without a drone. It does not interfere with official reaction efforts at Reagan Washington National Airport. Violators can face fines or penalties,” FAA told X.

Barges sent by Virginia Beach, Washington, arrived at the Potomac crash at the beginning of Saturday to help with recovery operations.

So far, remains of 41 of the 67 casualties of the Medium Air Collision have been restored between flight 5342 of the American Eagle and a military helicopter, officials have confirmed on Friday.

Twenty -eight have been identified and the following KIN notifications have been sent to 18 families, said DC chief and EMS chief John Donelli told reporters during a briefing by Unified Distasting’s command team in Washington.

The army has identified two of the soldiers aboard the helicopter as an employee SGT. Ryan Austin O’Hara, 28 years old, from Lilburn, Georgia, and chief officer of the order 2 Andrew Lloyd, 39 -year -old, from Great Mills, MD. The name of the third soldier refused at the request of the family, the army announced.

Diving teams use Sonar to scan for more human remains in the icy waters of the Potomak River, and employees are looking for the coastline for debris from a collision on Wednesday, in which 64 passengers were aboard 5432 and three members of the service aboard The US Sikorski H -60 Black Hawk helicopter was killed.

“I believe we will restore the other remains, that we will have to remove the fuselage from the water,” he said.

It is expected that two recorder devices that have previously been restored by the airline will produce usable results, despite the presence of “water penetration” into one of them.

The “black box” of the helicopter has been restored in good condition.

Transport secretary Sean Duffy has announced that FAA restricts helicopter traffic around the airport.
