2026 Athlete Shanafelt adds a proposal for West Virginia after a visit – Football from West Virginia

McMurray (Pa.) Peters Township 2026 Defense End Lucas Shanafelt was never in Western Virginia before stopping for the first Junior Day event on February 1.

Now he is definitely planning to come back.

Shanafelt, 6 feet-4, 235-pound, received an offer from mountaineers after talking to Bandits coach Jeff Castel. The coaching staff did not make him push for a specific position, but like him as an athlete on both sides of the ball.

“The coaches were great,” he said.

Overall, Shanafelt was impressed by his time in Morgantown by the facilities to the coaching staff. While he had been in contact with them for a long time, it was nice to see the place and how he compared to his expectations. It is safe to say that the test is certainly passing.

“The visit was great,” he said.

Coaches like his overall flexibility and ability to play many different positions that could make it in several places on the pitch depending on its development.

So far, there is nothing to return to West Virginia, but it is certainly in his plans.

“It will definitely return to West Virginia in the future,” he said.
