A Jay Stansfield Brace has helped leaders Birmingham to come back to beat Rother 2-1 in St. Andrew in League 1.

Blues almost moved forward from the corner in the fourth minute, but after a fight in the box, Joe Powell managed to lead the ball clean only inches from the goal line.

Millers owe much thanks to goalkeeper Dylan Phillips, who created an excellent rescue to refuse Stansfield’s diverting effort from the middle of half.

His rescue would be decisive, as in the 44th minute Nombe himself defeated his marker to head home from Dan Gore’s cross, giving visitors a lead in the break.

The country of Chris Davis started the second half well and was at the 54th minute level when Stansfield raised efforts along Phillips after he came across Lyndon Dyx’s head.

Stansfield then converted a penalty shootout in the 81st minute after Taylor Gardner-Hickman was removed in the area, which turned out to be enough to seal Blues for victory.
