Get to know the duo of the Birmingham Mother Disease by picking one of the most important UK sectors from Storm -Express & Star

A new Logistics Campaign Campaign Generation Generation survey emphasizes the importance of listening to parents when it comes to a career, with three of four Britons actually following their parents’ advice. Now Tracy and Chloe, the couple mother and daughter, who both make waves in logistics with Kuehne + Nagel, demonstrate how family advice can shape their careers to better and why they encourage other people to consider a career in logistics.

Tracey Duggan, a mother of Chloe, has enjoyed a successful logistics career over the last 22 years, including her current role as a Road Logistics Health Services Manager for Kuehne + Nagel. Her daughter Chloe, 24 -year -old, jumped into logistics after the encouragement of her mother and now coordinates international consignments for major exhibitions and events.

“I knew that my mother was always glad to work in logistics and seeing her excitement and passion gave me confidence that I would find my place in the sector,” Chloe said.

Based in Aston, Birmingham, work for the same company is a rewarding experience for both of them, and they have accepted the different strengths they carry in their roles. Tracy explains: “It’s great to work for Kuehne + Nagel with Chloe, although our roles are very different. My team loves this Chloe and I are here together – they always joke that we are “K+N family.”

Chloi agrees that sharing a role in the sector with her mother brings benefits – and topics of conversation. “It’s nice to know that I can call my mother for advice at any time,” she says. “She was a great mentor, especially when I started in the industry. When I made a degree of supply chain at the University of Aston, its knowledge and network connections helped me reach the right people for my projects. Of course, this is a regular topic on family nights, and while my father and brother sometimes get tired of logistics conversations, they like to see us flood! “

Their advice to someone who is considering a logistical career? “Cargo never sleeps!” Tracy says with laughter. “This is a quick development with so many opportunities for people who are ready to work hard,” adds Chloe, ‘logistics grows every day, so if you are open to learning, you will always find new paths to explore. “

Bethani Windsor, program director of Generation Logistics, added: “Trace and Chloe’s journey shows the power of family ties and the constantly developing opportunities in logistics. Together, they make the path of others to see logistics not only as a sector, but also as a thriving career in which family, experience and individual ambition can flourish side by side.

“Their story proves that it plays a role for everyone in the sector, regardless of your age, qualifications or interests. Separating time to discuss your abilities with people who know you well can help you identify your strengths, which can then guide you to choosing the right role. “
