The city of San Bernardino has announced that it has received $ 14,055,578 a grant for an infrastructure and fixation infrastructure from the Federal Highway Administration administration of US highways to build the first public billing network in the city. The project, in partnership with Arcadia -based EVC, will construct and operate 101 electric vehicles (EV) charging stations in parks, libraries, senior centers and other places throughout the city.
San Bernardino is one of the six organizations in the state and the only one in southern California who received this competitive grant.
“This grant prompts San Bernardino to a more green, resistant future,” said Mayor Helen Tran. “By adding over 100 EV loading stations in the Community, we not only improve access to sustainable transport, but confirm our dedication to the advancement of the environment and the growth of the community.”
The lack of affordable chargers has prevented many people from considering the ownership of electric vehicles, especially tenants and residents of apartments. The new loading network is expected to increase the acceptance of EV and provide a convenient, affordable and reliable billing for the residents of San Bernardino.
The project will install 77 fast charges from level 2 and 24 DC in 15 municipal places, including six parks/community centers, a football complex, the main library, the mayoralty, the police station, the city yard and several parking spaces in the city center. All sites will include level 2 and DC fast charging devices, level 1 retail outlets for electronic bicycles and scooters, and a 200kWh battery storage system for reliability and resistance.
As part of the project, the city of San Bernardino plans to partner with EVC based on Arcadia to operate and maintain the network. EVCS manages over 300 EV loading facilities in the Western United States and will provide $ 3.5 million to cover some of the equipment, construction and operating costs. The city will also partner with a local non -profit or educational institution to develop labor initiatives, including internships and apprenticeships in EV technology for local high school students and students.
The Ministry of Transport Infrastructure Billing and Fuel Program (CFI) assigns $ 635.69 million to $ 49 Benesty across the country for strategic deployment corridors for fuel.
“As we equip our communities with publicly available clean energy solutions, we are investing in a more resistant and affordable future for the residents of the Internal Empire,” said reporter Pete Aguilar. “This grant will help San Bernardino to apply EV charging devices throughout the city by taking decisive steps to combat climate change, reduce air pollution and improve public health.”
The total cost of the project is $ 17 587 038 for design and engineering, permits, construction, utility superstructures, commissioning, operations and maintenance.
An agreement will be submitted to the Municipal Council in the coming months for their approval.
