Speaking briefly to reporters in Philadelphia, Harris criticized Trump for not participating in a CNN town hall on Wednesday, which was the scheduled date for a second debate between the two candidates.
“Once again, Trump was a no-show, refused to be part of a CNN debate, and was apparently told by his staff that he was exhausted,” Harris said. “And the sad part of it is that he’s trying to become president of the United States, probably the hardest job in the world, and he’s exhausted.
Harris also touted two recent Republican endorsements: former congressman Fred Upton of Michigan and Sean Riley, mayor of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
“I think this continues to be a testament to the fact that people who have been leaders in our country, regardless of their political party, understand what’s at stake.” And they’re coming out — boldly, in many cases — in support of what we need to have, which is a president of the United States who understands the obligation to uphold the United States constitution and our democracy,” she said.
