IRVINE, Calif. – After an unforgettable 16-7 victory over defending champion Biola, Griffin Beth received another WWPA weekly honor. The Concordia men’s water polo team received weekly honors for the third week in a row.
Griffin Beth was an unstoppable force for the CUI men’s water polo team. The senior goaltender recorded a dozen saves and two steals over the course of the game. He nearly beat his career record for saves and continued to push the envelope.
Despite the initial penalty goal, Biola struggled to put another shot past Beth in the first twenty minutes of the game. His efforts led the CUI defense to hold Biola to just seven total goals.
It is now the fewest goals allowed by a CUI opponent all season.
Griffin Beth officially earned his second WWPA Defensive Player of the Week honor in his impactful senior campaign. The Costa Mesa native is tied for second in the WWPA with 153 saves.
Concordia is on the road next week to face UC Merced, then the rematch against Biola will be held at the Woollett Aquatics Center on November 8 at 7:00 p.m.
