Baton Rouge, La. (First Louisiana) – It has been a few weeks since Trump’s administrative office took over and immigration is a great accent.

Federal law enforcement as the drug implementation agency and the local immigration company in Baton Rouge confirms that there are local attacks. While these raids take place, members of the Spanish community speak of daily fear.

“I have witnessed the darkest times that I have seen in my life as Latin, Spaniard and as a Mexican-American woman in this country,” says Marisa Bejarano-Ferbo, a Louisian community community professor.

Ferbo currently lives in Port Allen and after massive deportations across the country, emphasized by the Trump administration. She feels that life was not easy for the Spanish community.

“There has been a much more fortified racism and discrimination lately,” Ferbo said.

Racism, who sees a striking here at home, especially with his students.

“They are trying to go to school, trying to go to work without knowing that if they get home, they will ever see their loved ones again,” she said.

Federal agencies such as the Drug Administration (DEA), which work with immigration customs law enforcement, confirm that the arrests are happening in the area. Stephen Hofer, a special agent at the DEA of the Field Department in New Orleans, said the underdeveloped criminals were on top of the list.

“There are thousands of immigrants who are in the area of Baton Rouge, a large area of Baton Rouge. And so we work every day visually with our internal security partners to make sure that we find and investigate the most common criminals in the area, “Hofer said.

Immigration lawyer Estafani Reichard also confirms the attacks, saying that lawyers at her company work with detained people. This includes people who are not criminals as an individual who has been detained in Denham Springs.

“He collaborated with local law enforcement authorities to leave a bad person. And he has a job permission that allows him to work, he has a social, has never committed a crime and has postponed action. And he was lifted, he was just around a group of people where he had raid and he was taken and now he was detained, “she said.

According to Reichard, calls were continuous and people who were without documents and people who are legal citizens were detained. It recommends that people have evidence documents at any time and reminds people of their rights if the ice appears in their homes or their work.

“If you meet ice in your house, say the ice is knocking on your door, you have the right not to open the door. I tell customers to call a lawyer immediately, “she said. “Ice is not entitled to enter your home unless there is a court order signed.”

Over time, Fernbaugh simply hopes the families of immigrants will fulfill their role and study for the rights of immigrants in the country. She also hopes everyone will gather and remember the times when her community was needed.

“Our Spanish community is suffering,” Ferbo said. “The way we decide to help them is to deny them the dignity of our compassion, to deny them the dignity of our humanity, and to deny them the dignity of their rights of man? And this is a cruel way to pay people who have restored this condition over and over and over, “she said.

While the arrests continue, DEA highlights the community safety objective is the main goal.

“After all, our goal is to make sure we are able to arrest the offenders and since we have the goal of wanting to make sure the community is safe,” Hofer said.
