A new multicultural restaurant and bar is coming to Birmingham, 26 October – Bham Now

Sands of Sahara – a new, multicultural restaurant and bar specializing in Mediterranean cuisine and exotic drinks – opens this weekend in Birmingham! Bham Now spoke with owners Simba, Paige, David and Olu to learn more about the new location.

There’s a new restaurant and bar in The Magic City! Located at 2024 Green Springs Highway, Sands of Sahara is owned by Simba, Paige, David and Olu, a quartet of entrepreneurs who met through the University of Alabama.

“My partners come from Nigeria and Kenya, so we really wanted to build on their backgrounds and bring something unique to the city.”

The new restaurant and bar specializes in Mediterranean cuisine with an American twist, offering simple, high quality dishes such as:

  • Hand breaded mozzarella balls
  • Hummus Trio featuring three different hummus made in-house
  • “Feast” with shrimp, beef, chicken and honey-glazed salmon skewers
  • Side dishes like rosemary potatoes, Greek salads and garlic truffle fries

Sands of Sahara will also feature a full drinks menu, with cocktails such as:

  • The Melon Oasis, with hints of watermelon and pineapple
  • Macho Espresso Martini
  • Habibi’s Kiss, made with Reposado tequila, rose water, lime juice and other tropical juices

We’ll have something new every night — including belly dancing and Saturday night fire shows.
