The 46 -year -old Jeffrey King pleaded guilty to January 31 for a conspiracy for cheating in healthcare and cheating. His wife, 39-year-old Alexandra Gerke, pleaded guilty last October on such accusations.
The defendants operated companies that filed $ 1.2 billion deceptive and false claims to health insurance plans, including $ 960 million for federal health programs, according to the US Department of Justice.
The couple’s companies have provided wound care and reports that they are pressing nurses to provide grafts to wounds to patients who do not need them.
As part of the legal basis agreements, the defendants were ordered to pay $ 1.2 billion for restitution collectively. The government has already seized assets of $ 100 million from the couple, according to DOJ.
King and Gerke will be sentenced to later and every up to 20 years in prison.
