Scotsdale has revealed a new pedestrian subway on the multi -used road to the Indian turn, improving the safety and movement of traffic at the busy crossroads of the roads in Heidon and Chaparal.

“One of the innovative things Scottsdale is known for is the Indian bandwidth and this underpass makes it more forthcoming,” said Mayor Lisa Borovski. “This is an exciting project for more than 1.5 million residents and visitors who use the multiple paths in the city every year and with the addition of this underpass makes us everyone more fed.”

The $ 5 million project, completed in nine months, reduces conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. By deflecting foot and bicycle traffic under the Chaparral Road, it allows longer times of green lights for motorists.

“The underpass provides a continuous trip to cyclists and pedestrians along the Indian band washing,” says Mark Melnichenko, director of transport and streets of Scottsdale. “The crossing below will increase safety by reducing conflicts between pedestrians and motorists at the intersection and will provide longer times of green lights for vehicles directed east to the Chaparal Road.”

Funded by the federal grants and the tax on the sales of the Transport of Scottsdale, the project also included the sidewalk and modifications on the road near the intersection.
