The Birmingham subway area provided 17 new economic development projects in 2024, totaling $ 490 million and created 1,000 new jobs.

This is according to the report of the annual meeting of the President of Birmingham Business Alliance held in Fennec in the center of Birmingham.

The common work was the most for the region since 2022, said BBA President Joe Hampton.

These projects include the new $ 335 million headquarters for Coca-Cola United in Birmingham and Brasfield & Gorrie at $ 18.9 million in Birmingham’s office.

“Birmingham, my friends, is a place where we all have to invest,” Hampton said.

BBA Executive Director Steve Ammons said the Economic Development Subject, among other intentions, focused on attracting and retention and expansion of business. In 2024, his attraction team met with 67 different site selection consultants and traveled to more than 30 trade shows and conferences to utter the Birmingham area.

The existing BBA team also met with 133 companies, which has a 40% increase compared to the previous year, he said. Amons said BBA hopes to double this year.

“We have to be stronger, we have to be more competitive and we have to be better positioned for growth,” Ammons said.

This year, said Ammons, the BBA will work to strengthen regional cooperation. This means making sure that Birmingham and the Birmingham region are intensifying together.

The BBA is expected to announce its 2025 legislative program next month.

“Strong economies are regional economies,” he said. “Success comes from collaboration, not isolation.”
