The Red Head Gallery is excited to expose the miraculous Alexander Irving.
In search of the miraculous is a text exhibition of prints, drawings and video. Through his reading, Irving collects phrases that resonate with him, and while at first he looks different, they gather to form unexpected stories. Regardless of whether they cause personal reflection or accept new meaning in connection with current events, the words regenerate, investing the obtained compositions of new meaning for Irving and his viewers.
“I write through the drawing gesture in terms of shade as well as light. Each gesture imagines the next, every gesture becomes a word without comment or interpretation. “
-Alexander Irving.
Alexander Irving has worked in various media, always returning to drawing as a place of inquiry and miracle. Graduating from the College of Art and Design in Nova Scotia in 1987, he has since exhibited his works of art nationally and internationally. His last job is based on text in a pencil, paint and print. The work is full of beginnings, repetitions and bifurcations that never lead to unity, end or output.
I am interested in a text that negotiates the variety of its possible continuation and as it was, endlessly. My carrier is a repetition.
