A perennial investigation, led by the regional band by the department and the special group of Northern Nevada, successfully dismantles KO, a local blood band, which is known for its violence in the Renault, Sparks and Washo districts.
The investigation, which began in 2022, headed for the gang due to its participation in several murders and related firing over the last five years.
Authorities said the gang was also involved in human trafficking, drug trafficking, armed robbery and vehicle theft. Since the investigation, the regional band has seized 30 firearms, several pounds of illegal drugs and more than $ 10,000 in US currency.
The operation has arrested over 50 gang members and associates who have been convicted of crimes, including murder, attempted murder, weapons crimes, human trafficking and drug trafficking. Several additional cases are still hanging.
Officials said this joint investigative effort was the first of its size and of its kind in Washoe County. The cooperation between the regional band, the special group of Safe Strets, the regional drug area and the human operation and trafficking department, effectively cripples the most vibrant band in the region, with most members now serving significant prison sentences.

The Regional Department of the Gang is a joint effort including officers and detectives from the Renault Police Department, the Sparks Police Department, the Sheriff’s office of Washo County, the school police of Washo County, Conditional Release and Probation of the DP Bureau. The department also offers resources for the education and deviation of adults and minors involved in criminal gangs, encouraging those seeking help to reach support.
