The Reds in Cincinnati are not settled with their prospects on a third base. There are many reasons why the superstructures they can seek have a clear answer.
Stop Nelvi Marthe for PED really returned it. Before it happened, he had a series of 16 games and looked like the heir to the third base of the Reds for years to come.
Everything transferred after his return from stopping. He couldn’t hit, couldn’t field, and barely got on the base. It looked awful.
Now the alternatives are not so inspiring. Santiago Espinal looked solid, but most options are handled by March. The Reds seem to not like the thought of Jaime Candelairio on a third base, and while Gavin Lux widespread it was an option there – he never played the position at the MLB level.
There is a world where nothing is wrong with Matt McLain’s shoulder, and he crashes into a short stop while Eli de la Cruz makes a third base, but that sounds more like a dream than reality.
So let’s trade for one, huh? Several options were discussed who could continue. Everyone is through trade, so he doesn’t think you’ll see me write about Alex Bregman.
There are four trading options that I looked at: Alec Bom, Luis Rengifo, Jace Jung and Josh Smith. Given the player, what will be needed for the trade for them and their fit with the Reds, I like Jung most.
He has remained throughout his years of team control and his intelligence report shines how well he can hit. The glove is not so polished, but maybe it’s something Terry Francon can help it develop. The key here is that it will be an anchor of the composition for years to come.
Some may wonder the availability of Jung, but there is a key factor here. I believe that if the Reds offer tigers upgrade and Detroit signs Bregman from the pile of the free agent, the Reds could do so.
Jung at first glance would cost less than if the Reds went after a bom. An auditory trade for Bom was Spencer Steer and Nick Lodolo. Bohm is not a good enough player to justify the trade with so many talents.
There are also rumors that the Reds can only land Jung with Lodolo, but I wonder if they could negotiate this on a promising package entitled by Chase Fifth? I will really be excited if that was the case.
Nevertheless, the Lodolo trade would be trading from a position of force. If the reds then take this trade and create another power on the site, then they are cooked with gas targeting for spring training.
