Billy’s Place, a Glendale-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and families coping with grief, recently announced that it has been named a 2024 grant recipient from the West Valley Mavericks Foundation.
“Funds from this grant will greatly enhance our ability to provide grief-informed schools training to educators throughout the West Valley, ensuring that schools can create supportive environments for children who are grieving.” This partnership helps us expand our reach and provide much-needed resources to those who need it most,” said Karina Haholi, Billy’s Place School Bereavement Liaison, in a press release.
Billy’s Place offers a variety of grief support services, including peer support groups, grief-informed school trainings, a grief resource center and community outreach.
Thanks to the grant, the organization is able to serve even more families in the community. This collaboration allows Billy’s Place to meet the growing needs of schools and families in the Valley, especially as the population grows.
The mission of the West Valley Mavericks Foundation is to support families, children and others in need while improving the quality of life in West Valley communities through donations to Arizona-based organizations. Each year, the foundation selects several nonprofits, like Billy’s Place, that align with its goals and make an impact in the local community.
“The West Valley Mavericks Foundation generated over $2.3 million in 2023 to support the West Valley community. As a result of the 2023 effort, the West Valley Mavericks will provide funding to over 90 West Valley charities this year. West Valley Mavericks Foundation President Chad Frank said.
