Baton Rouge, La. (Wafb) – Have you ever thought of pursuing a career in law enforcement, but you are not quite sure what to expect?
The Baton Rouge Police Department accepts applications for its Civic Academy, a program that allows you to get practical experience in the department.
Through professional instructions from law enforcement experts, the 8-week course gives the participants a first-hand look at the Police Department of Baton Rouge, as well as other local law enforcement authorities that serve the community.
To qualify, you have to be over 18 years of age and pass background check.
Some experiences include:
- 911 Send
- Shoot, don’t shoot scenarios
- Gun
- Police Ethics Training
- Basic assaults/investigations to kill
To apply, you can take and submit an application to the lobby at the BRPD headquarters or fill out an application online.
You are asked to send a copy of your ID/driver’s license with your application.
The size of the class is limited to 25 participants. The classes will be held at the BRPD headquarters every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The address is 9000 highway airlines.
