RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Local author Sue S. Duggan stopped by Morning Break to share with viewers her latest two books, SOS and Mayday, part of the Land, Sea and Air series.
Summary of SOS:
Thirteen-year-old Brandon, Amy and their family are on a cruise to Bermuda when hurricane-force winds sink their ship. Brandon and his six-year-old sister are adrift at sea until an evacuee ship fleeing war-torn Europe during World War II finds them.
It’s like they’ve gone back in time!
Eleanor, a beautiful girl fleeing the chaos and destruction of London, joins Brandon and Amy. Although the sinking of a ship is horrible enough, they are saved by none other than the Titanic! Bad luck seems to follow them everywhere as they travel back in time. Will they ever come back nowadays?
They must rely on each other and their wits to find land and home.
Mayday Summary:
Jessica “Jesse” Holbrook and her father, Adam, fly to a favorite vacation spot in Bermuda in her father’s Cessna for spring break. During a red storm, Jesse’s father bangs his head and sees double. Jesse will have to pilot the plane and land it safely if and when they see an airport.
Jesse spots land, but it doesn’t look like Bermuda. Had they gone off course to somewhere in Central America or Mexico? Jesse thinks they traveled through a time warp because they end up back in Mayan times, not knowing how they got there!
The clock is ticking for them to leave and go home, but they need fuel, and with the language barrier, it is difficult to communicate their needs to the inhabitants of this island. They enlist the help of a World War II pilot who guards the fuel supply for many years.
There is no compass to show the way back from time travel! Their situation seems almost hopeless. Or is it?
