Sunrise -According to a recent press release, the historical and prehistoric Sunrise Society has received some so much necessary means to replace the windows of the historic YMCA building located in the city.
“Plywood covered windows will show public light in the first YMCA in Wyoming. YMCA is part of the city of Izgrev, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Currently, YMCA is used as a museum and research center for history and archeology of the area. The building has also become a facility where people can attend numerous educational activities and as a large building serves as a community center for the area, “Chaps explained.
Currently, Shapps owns YMCA and they will soon be able to use grants to restore the building.
“It is alleged that the windows were broken due to vandalism or the elements, as the mine was abandoned more than 40 years ago,” Chaps explained. “Some windows will be able to finally be finally replaced by Shapps, due in part to $ 10,000 grant received by Woodrow & Glyda May Fund at the Wyoming Community Foundation.”
Shapps is a non -profit organization that works to preserve, protect, study and share prehistory and the history of sunrise and the surrounding area, they explained.
“” Shapps projects and the work they are doing to restore the first YMCA in Wyoming, saves and brings back to life a huge piece of history in this area. We get people at our restaurant who tell us that they came to see where their grandparents began when they arrive in America because they heard so many stories about it. This historical tourism, as well as archeology, brings more people to this area, which is great for business here. We were excited to hear that Chaps received a grant for new windows, as they would definitely help the progress of restoration through jumps and borders, “Scott and Christine Harmon said in the message.
The harmonic is the owner of the miner’s bar and Stockman in Hartville. The Stockman is the oldest bar in Wyoming, and the bar is located on the road leading to sunrise.
