Alex Hunter breaks up the Buccaneers backfield with Bucky Irving (finger) missing back-to-back practices.
Bucky Irving ($5,800) missed his second straight practice with a toe injury Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday’s game against the Falcons in jeopardy. Sean Tucker ($5,200) worked as a clear #3 option in that backfield from behind Rachel White ($5,700) and Irving in Week 7, but if the latter is inactive, Tucker should see a more prominent role.
That backfield would become a two-man unit, and while White would likely still lead the way, Tucker would be in line for double-digit touchdowns, giving him a great chance to produce.
With Irving active and White inactive in Week 6 against the Saints, Irving and Tucker split Tampa Bay’s running back carries evenly with 14 apiece, and with that volume, Tucker rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown. He also caught all three of his targets for 56 yards and another touchdown. Overall, Tucker finished with a whopping 37.2 FPTS.
On the season, Tucker impressively ranks third in yards per carry (8.2) and first in FPTS per snap among running backs (0.85).
While outstanding, those numbers are unsustainable, and we can’t expect another fantasy explosion for Tucker when he faces a Falcons defense that is giving up the 10th fewest yards per punt (4.4). That being said, if Irving sits, Tucker will have solid upside and be a viable RB3/FLEX play for seasonal leagues as well as a GPP option for DFS.
