Local microbrewery forced to move – the details and how to help – FMX 94.5

A local Lubbock microbrewery is facing an abrupt relocation after it says the strip mall it houses has decided the business isn’t “part of the new vision for the space.”

Mano Negro is “Lubbock’s first Latino-owned microbrewery,” according to their website. They specialize in draft beer and sangria, while also offering exciting non-alcoholic options.

They also often host live music and comedy events.

Personally, I love buying bottles of their Sangria as a nice, locally made gift.

Mano Negra, currently located at 2610 Salem Ave. in the Cactus Alley Shopping Center, turned to Facebook for suggestions for a new space as they have just under two months to relocate their business.

All of this comes after they spent five years settling into their current space.

Many fans have offered to take over the former Frost Brewery location on 34th, which closed in early October of this year. This place also offers a lot of charm and history.

Other fans suggested a downtown location so Mano Negra could benefit from events like the First Friday Art Trail. Burkee Hill also closed earlier this year, leaving the beautiful building empty.

Still others suggested the booming areas of South Lubbock or the West End Mall. Most people agreed that the new space should have a patio.

Want to help with what is sure to be an expensive move? Mano Negra has posted some suggestions for those who want to see them flourish in a new space:

Ways to support our move!:

•Visit us, have a drink and ask about our story

• Order Sangria To-Go

•Buy goods

• Kickstarter (forthcoming)

• Go Fund Me (coming soon)

•Visit us at the Wolfforth Farmers Market

That sounds like a good excuse to order me a Sangria.
