Topeka – The parishioners here can now revive their journey with a new Catholic radio show. For the morning prayers, a daily rosary and other programs filled with faith, KSWZ-LP FM 89.7 (or Topeka’s Sword) is active and seeks support for listeners.

It has long come, but in December 2023 the window for a new non -commercial radio station opened in December 2023. The glory of God the Community applied for a license, and in May 2024 it was granted.

Low power Catholic radio is nothing new to the archbishopric or glory of God the community. Nine years ago, St. Bernard Church in Demgo received a low -power station license to be based in St. George. Apostolas of laymen were formed to run the 100-watt Station for St. Bernard in the first three years.

From the outset, the apostle has encountered the long -time Kansas Lee Defendorf’s presenter (also known as Lee O’De) and his little LLC, “Glorium deo Catholic Media”, for daily programming of the station.

As an operating manager of the new Topeka station, Defendorf will continue programming for Topeka and St. George. He personally tests the signal in different parishes in the city.

“I was sitting in different parking lots from the different parishes of Topeka just to check,” Defendorf said. “I wanted to make sure you can hear it at anyone. The signal was strong, I’m glad to say. “

Much of the programming in Topeka and St. George is shared and marked by coming from the Catholic Radio for the Sword Network. In a short time, another LP station in Manhattan will join the network.

Archbishop Joseph F. Nauman also expressed his enthusiasm to the new station in a letter sent to Topeka’s pastors. In the part of the letter addressed to Defendorf, Archbishop Nauman wrote:

“Thank you for dealing with the Catholic Suba under the letters of Call Letters Kswz-LP and for your help with Glory to God Community in Topeka, as they start working on the new Catholic radio in Topeka. S S S I am grateful for your efforts to evangelize Topeka’s community by offering quality, authentic Catholic programming, encouraging the truth and beauty of Catholic faith. “

In a press release sent to Leach, Defendorf asked Topeka’s parishioners to consider supporting the station.

“All Catholic radio stations are” maintained listeners, “writes Defendorf. “We don’t get money from the church. EWTN supports programming, but it’s expensive to simply get equipment to bring into the network signal. To help us get on, an anonymous donor wrote a check about the necessary equipment. With Pro Bono The help of an engineer from my previous radio career, things are gathering. “

“The Christmas holidays failed to start raising funds and operational bills are beginning to enter,” Defendorf continued. “We currently need about $ 3,000 for operating funds. If you can help us, every gift will be appreciated. “

Donations can be made by checking: Glory to God/Radio, 7440 Swation RD, Wakarusa, KS 66546. To adjust, the new channel is 89.7 on the dial.
