We can see many more concerts in the city after the Board of the Convention and Visitors to Renault-Sparks (RSCVA) voted unanimously to act as a promoter at the Renault Event Center.
The Council says they have been considering this since the beginning of the fiscal year last July.
This is an effort to provide more events for events throughout the year for concerts, sports and other opportunities for entertainment in the Reno-Sparks area. The Council also made it clear that they would be financially responsible as a new promoter.
“The market currently has no indoor space, which goes after the concert market in the capacity of the seat between 3000 to 7000,” said Mike Larageta, President/CEO of RSCVA. “Obviously, the capacity in RC is only about 7000 or 7500 depending on the creation.”
Larragueta says they really want to focus on artists who make indoor events within the capacity levels provided by the Reno Event Center.
He tells us that revenue depends on the event. For example, a rural artist can bring more money than a comedian or sports game. Plus, it also has an economic impact such as hotels, food and drinks and games.
Larragueta says they are also looking to complimen out and collaborate with local hotels, where they will bid the possibility that other hotels may not bid or a date they will not have availability in their showrooms and theaters.
“We really want to be sure that we are open and communicative and transparent with stakeholders and work with them, because not only do we want to make them support our efforts to bring concerts in the region, we want them to buy tickets like E, bring you, bring People in the region, “he said.
Larragueta says they are excited about the next steps. Their goal is to book at least two concerts at any time between now and June. And then at least six concerts in the next fiscal year between July this year and June 2026.
