THERE ARE 20 NOW

Entering Week 8, only 20 LHSAA football teams remain undefeated. Baton Rouge’s undefeated list is cut to four, starting with 6-0 Dutchtown in Class 5A. Lutcher (6-0) is 4A, The Dunham School (7-0) in 2A and Class 1A Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (7-0) in Class 1A are the others.

NO CONTEST

Injuries left Class 1A Plain Dealing without enough players to finish its game with Arcadia last week. The north-based Bossier Parish Lions have already canceled their Week 8 matchup with Jonesboro-Hodge. With a 16-man roster and injuries, Week 9 and 10 matchups with Lincoln Prep and Pickering are in question.

HONORABLE COACH BAGS

The LHSAA is asking member schools to begin Week 8 games with a moment of silence in honor of legendary Independence coach Charles Baglio, who passed away last weekend. Coach Bags was president of the LHSCA, helped found the LFCA, won 206 career games and then served 20 years as LSU’s director of outdoor operations.
