Birmingham, but. (WBRC) – two weeks after a The shooting in the center of Birmingham left a man hospitalizedPolice are still looking for answers – and who has pulled the trigger.
Investigators say the advice has intensified, but no arrests have been made so far.
The case attracts even more attention because of its proximity to the privileges, a soon -to -open nightclub, which has become a focal point of dispute.
Birmingham police are still working to identify who fired the shots that were passing by a car with Bullet on First Avenue North.
The victim survived, but his current condition remains unknown.
Bob Copus, director of Metro Alabama Crime Stoppers, says the lack of recent advice suggests that while people in the community may know what happened, they did not go ahead.
“We have received some tips in this case, but none of them are recently,” Copus said. “So, what he tells us are two things. Number one, there are people in the community who know what happened and probably know who did it. And that, we continue and sometimes people forget. “
Copus now calls on the public to help investigators find the responsible person.
“We, the people who live in this community, deserve the right to be able to travel through every city, any part of the community and not worry about shooting,” he said. “This bullet will go somewhere and often hit an unwanted purpose.”
Adding another layer to the story is soon the opening nightclub for privileges, located near the shooting scene.
Shortly after the incident, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin went to social media, criticizing the club and calling for it to be closed before he even opened.
The club has since reacted by starting a Petition calling on city officials to allow them to move on With their plans.
Despite the reverse reaction, the privilege seems to move at full speed forward. The club recently published on Instagram that it is conducting DJ Auditions, a sign that preparations for its great opening are still underway.
WBRC has repeatedly turned to privilege owner Dan Crane for comment, but he didn’t answer. We even visited the club and talked to people there, but we were unable to get to Crane to discuss the mayor’s shooting or remarks.
Meanwhile, criminal stoppers continue to insist on justice.
“We have to get to the point that people do not want to do this because they know they will be caught,” Copus said. “And they know they will go to prison, probably for the rest of their lives.”
The city of Birmingham has not yet said whether any action would be taken to prevent the privilege from opening. Officials have been related to comment and this story will be updated when more information becomes.
