Peter Jones indicated in the Board of Trustees

The Council of Florida Governors has appointed the graduates of Florida State University of Florida Peter Jones at the FSU Board of Trustees immediately.

The appointment of Jones to his Alma Mater was made during a board meeting on Thursday at the campus of the University of Northern Florida in Jacksonville.

Jones, a native of Clearwater, graduated from FSU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1977 and is the past president and chairman of Franklin Templeton, which is a global investment management company.

His decades of career with the company ended with his retirement in 2015 after being president of Franklin Templeton Distributers, Inc. From 1989 to 2015 and chairman of Franklin Templeton Institutional, LLC from 2007 to 2015. After retiring, Jones became an additional professor at FSU for several years and taught finance classes at the London Training Program, England and Valencia, Spain for over four summers.

Jones’ numerous FSU appearances include being a member of the FSU Foundation and chairman of the Audit Committee of the FSU International Program Association. Jones is also the instigator of 2018 at the FSU College of Business Hall of Fame, and also serves in the Advisory Council for Investment of the State Council of Florida Administration.

While Jones joins the university board, FSU trustees John Til and Bob Saser are members whose deadline has expired this month. No message has been made on their status. Although Jones’ immediate start date on the FSU board is on Thursday, his appointment awaits confirmation from the Senate of Florida.
