Something at the Water Festival – canceled – Richmond Free Press

Something at the Water Festival will not return to Virginia Beach this April due to violations of the contract confirmed by the Virginia Beach Municipal Council.

The City Council announced on Monday night that it will terminate its sponsorship contract with the organizers of the SITW Festival after missing the five -day end of Grace’s period to submit music bands and sales.

“While the city appreciates the positive impact and visibility that has had something in the Virginia Beach Water Festival in the past years, unfortunately the organizers do not meet the requirements for a treatment notice regarding the next steps,” the municipal council said.

Sitw has been set for April 26-27, but in recent months the organizers have not been unclear for the logistics and planning of the festival.

The Music Festival, scheduled for October 2024, was canceled after the tickets went on sale in September. The founder of the festival and music producer Farrell Williams said the event “is not ready yet.” In response, the city fulfilled a contract that requires Sitw’s organizers to comply with specific deadlines.

In November, city authorities contacted the organizers of ticket updates and the music range. The organizers said they would wait until the new year to provide these details, missing the original deadline on December 31.

Last week, the City Council provided a five -day grace period after not seeing progress in ticket sales or lineup. When the organizers missed the deadline on Monday, the city authorities declared a breach of the contract and continued forward with termination.

Williams founded the 2019 Art and Music Festival, and the opening event generates over $ 24 million in revenue for Hampton roads, with Virginia Beach seeing over $ 26 million in 2023.

Due to the pandemic, the event was canceled for both 2020 and 2021 Williams then moved the concert series to Washington, Colombia, in April 2022, after his cousin was shot and killed by a police officer in Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Beach Municipal Council said it would find “alternative plans” to attract tourists on April 26-27, but will remain open to work with SITW.

“We remain optimistic about future opportunities to work with the SITW team,” the message said.
